My work is concerned with the worlds we live in, particularly our internal worlds and reality. Through exploring dreams, daydreams, fantasies, and the "real world" I seek to point out the absurdity that exists in all of these realms, drawing connections between what exists in our minds and what we experience in reality in order to close the gap between the two. My art is an attempt to combine dreams and reality into the same world.
I draw inspiration from magic realism as well as research on the subconscious and dream interpretations. Humor is an essential part of my work, as it not only represents the absurdity my work aims to identify but it also acts as a point of access and relatability to into the personal stories I tell. I work in a variety of media - including film/video, animation, painting, and sculpture - and combining these elements into a singular project allows these inner worlds to be brought to life and explored, rather than just existing as an idea.
